The time is natural and slow trend. That’s why the great classics of cosmetics are back in our bathroom. The one we see everywhere? Rose water, this ancestral elixir with many virtues beauty.
ROSE WATER, WHAT IS IT?
“It takes about 400 fresh roses to make a liter of floral water,” reveals Elodie Valverde, Director of Research and Innovation at Sanoflore. So many quantities of flowers that the rose water becomes an exceptional product. This floral water is obtained by the distillation of fresh flowers which, thanks to the water vapor that crosses the plants, allows to “break the plant cells and release the flower’s active ingredients”. Two precious liquids are obtained: the essential oil of rose and its floral water.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A WATER OF ORGANIC ROSE
Once the floral water is separated from the essential oil, both are filtered but this step does not prevent the pesticides from passing. This is why it is necessary to opt for organic floral waters to avoid applying on its skin potentially dangerous chemicals.
THE 1001 BENEFITS OF ROSE WATER
The rose water has long been shunned for its somewhat old-fashioned image and its smell that, like Proust’s madeleine, inevitably reminded us of our grandmother. But it was not counting the return of natural beauty in our beauty products and slow cosmetics. Because, whether we like it or not, rose water is known for its freshness, for its ability to purify, soothe and strengthen the skin barrier. Used daily, it illuminates the complexion, promotes its transparency and is a powerful anti-aging active. “In addition to its well-known sensory properties, rose water is rich in vitamin A,” says dermatologist Nina Roos. Its exfoliating molecules allow for the renewal of skin cells smoothly and maintain the tissue that is called collagen. ”
HOW TO USE ROSE WATER
Perfectly suited to all types of skin, even the most sensitive, rose water can be used daily. By removing make-up, tonic lotion or rinsing water to remove the limescale left by the tap water, this floral water is indeed a very good beauty ally. Elodie from Sanoflore also proposes to add a little to her day cream to boost its effectiveness but also to spray a little on his clay mask to prevent it dries too quickly. Our grandmothers had told us so!
